Secrets For A Perfect Shave

The real secret of how to shave is to make shaving a pleasure not a chore.

Shaving Set

While electric razors are quick and convenient, they can leave the skin dry. When it comes to mens grooming, nothing quite beats a wet shave.

Avoid shaving when you have just rolled out of bed, bleary eyed and puffy faced. Have breakfast and a shower, then you are ready to go. This allows your skin to wake up and the shower makes the hairs softer and easier to shave.

Use premium shaving accessories and mens grooming products, starting with a gentle facial cleanser to remove any impurities and grease not just from your skin but from the hairs making them easier to shave. Next use a quality shaving soap, shaving cream or shaving oil – foams are easy to use but can be harsh on sensitive skin. Shaving soaps and cream give a rich lather providing a cushion for the skin, and are best used with a traditional shaving brush. Shaving oil is applied with the fingers, but a little goes a long way so do not overdo it.

Apply the shaving product to warm damp skin and massage gently in a circular motion. This is best done with a shaving brush which will soften and lift the hairs ready for shaving and also has the added benefit of exfoliating the skin, removing all those dead cells and leaving your skin looking and feeling so much better.

Once again choose a premium razor – do not be tempted to skimp at the final hurdle. Just like a fine pen, your razor should feel good in your hand. A fabulous shaving razor is a pleasure to use and can be a thing of beauty too. Teamed with a matching shaving brush and a funky shaving stand, it will look great in the bathroom.

Use short gentle strokes – let the razor do the work – and rinse the blade regularly using hot water. Shave with and not against the hair for a smoother shave and to help prevent razor rash. Shave the easier parts first, allowing the hairs in the harder parts time to soften. Rinse your face with cool clean water, and then pat dry with a clean towel. Apply a mild toner to close the pores and refresh the skin. Don't be tempted to use an after shave, they are much too astringent.

And finally don't forget to care for your razor and shaving brush. Do not wipe the blade, this will blunt it, simply rinse it under hot running water then hang upright to dry. Likewise rinse your shaving brush, shake off any excess water and hang to dry – this time downwards – in your shaving stand.

Follow these simple shaving tips, invest in premium shaving and mens skin care products, and you will transform your daily shaving regime into a pleasurable experience.  How to shave made easy.
