While electric razors are quick and convenient, they can leave the skin dry. When it comes to men's grooming, nothing quite beats a wet shave.
Avoid shaving when you have just rolled out of bed, bleary eyed and puffy faced. Have breakfast and a shower, then you are ready to go. This allows your skin to wake up and the shower makes the hairs softer and easier to shave.
Apply the shaving product to warm damp skin and massage gently in a circular motion. This is best done with a shaving brush which will soften and lift the hairs ready for shaving and also has the added benefit of exfoliating the skin, removing all those dead cells and leaving your skin looking and feeling so much better.
Use short gentle strokes – let the razor do the work – and rinse the blade regularly using hot water. Shave with and not against the hair for a smoother shave and to help prevent razor rash. Shave the easier parts first, allowing the hairs in the harder parts time to soften. Rinse your face with cool clean water, and then pat dry with a clean towel. Apply a mild toner to close the pores and refresh the skin. Don't be tempted to use an after shave, they are much too astringent. Instead use a gentle after shave balm which will soothe and moisturise your skin.
